Beach and Memorial Day

After getting home from two weeks of vacation, we decided to take another one. On Saturday, we went with our friends (yes, Laine, we have friends), Steve and Lindsay Bullock, to Wingaersheek Beach. It's a perfectly-sized cove a little less than an hour north of Boston, providing the ideal scenery expected of an East Coast shoreline. As there are hardly any waves, the area has more of a lake-like feeling and is perfect for ankle-deep wading.

On Sunday, we took Davy for a little stroll to look at some of the quiet streets around our neighborhood. Rachel enjoys looking at the New England houses and imagining which one she would want to live in and what she would do with it. We brought along some bubbles to entertain Davy. This picture shows the extent of his excitement. Guess bubbles aren't that cool yet.

For Memorial Day, we made another visit to Mt. Auburn Cemetery. It was a perfect day and locale for walking as the many trees provide shade everywhere. We picked out our favorite headstones, sat on a bench to enjoy some Dunkin' Donuts, and just absorbed the beautiful greenery. We heard a distant trumpet playing "Taps" while we were walking around, which added to the feeling of the day. Just before heading home, we found a lookout tower that allowed us to see the Boston skyline.

Utah

We got to spend a week in Utah with my (Rachel's) family. My siblings (Davy's aunts and uncles) were ecstatic to finally see the baby. He got plenty of attention and love, hopefully enough to last him until next visit!

Uncle Luke was so sweet with Davy. He washed his stuffed frog especially for the baby so he could play with it. He was so careful holding him, too. Luke was disappointed when he couldn't feed Davy new foods, but he's excited for when Davy can walk and talk and eat "real" food.

Uncle Jonathan was also really good at holding Davy safely and entertaining him.

At Purple Turtle (a family tradition--we love their Tornados and deep-fat-fried food!). Davy looks grumpy that he couldn't have any of the treats.

We had a good time seeing some of our best friends and catching up with them and showing Davy off.

Davy's starting to be able to sit up for a few seconds on his own before toppling over. It's amazing how much he grew even in the two weeks we were gone!

Reaching out and grabbing are definite skills the baby has. He's reaching for anything that moves or looks interesting and loves grabbing--particularly hair. Ow.

Davy felt so safe and comfortable in Great-grandmother Bee's arms. He took a nice little nap on her lap Sunday afternoon.

We loved visiting our family in California. We already miss them and having them hold Davy all day! Davy thrived on all the attention. Here are some of the highlights of our trip:

Disneyland was really fun. Davy didn't care about any of it, but on the other hand he slept well and didn't beg us to buy everything in sight.

Throughout the trip, we noticed Davy's ability to reach out and grab things has been improving. We love his face when he's focused.

Parent Talk Sale

On Saturday, we went to our second Parent Talk sale, which has in every way measured up to the hype other local ward members have created about it. Just like last fall, we went home with two brown bags full of clothing for $20, but this time we knew who we were shopping for! As such, we were able to pick out stuff that fit Davy's style. Like this fly hat.

Other than that, nothing much new except that Davy has rolled over a couple of times again. (Collin thinks his large head makes it easy for him).

Also, blowing raspberries is his newest thing to entertain himself.
