Eddy's Nine Year Portraits

Eddy is such a fun person to be around. He looks for people to help. He has a great deal of focus and drive for the things he wants to do. He's been thriving in 3rd grade (his teacher expects a great deal from his students and Eddy rises to the occasion). Some things that Edward can't get enough of: sugar, wall ball, Lego, Minecraft. He thinks best when he can also fiddle with something. His smile is as big as the sun. We love him so much.

Eddy's 8th Birthday and Baptism

Edward John turned 8 years old and decided to be baptized. He is the sweetest boy, giving the best hugs and smiles. He looks for problems to solve and jumps in with solutions. He's smart and silly. He is hardworking at school and a great helper at home. He is simply growing up so well. We are proud of Eddy bear and love him to bits.

He made a pinata of an Ender Dragon from Minecraft for his party after the baptism with family. We were so lucky to have family come to be with him on his special day. His menu was pretty telling--oreos, mint chocolate any- and every-thing, sandwiches but NO TOMATOES.

Interview with Eddy

How does it feel to be 8 years old?

     Fun. I'm one year older.

What will you always remember from your baptism?

Probably playing When I Am Baptized on the piano.

How long did you prepare for your baptism?

I started preparing like a year before.

What did you do to prepare?

I learned When I Am Baptized and practiced it. We also practiced going under the water. But we didn't actually go under the water until that day. Just the motion.

How did you feel?

Cold because the water was cold. And then kind of warm when I got the Holy Ghost.

How about your birthday party?
I had a huge sugar rush! and also I got a tooth ache from the candy.

What can 8 years olds do that only they can?

I don't know what 8 year olds do. They just be 8 year olds I guess.

What's your favorite color?

    Green

Food?

     Minty food.

Subject in school?

I really like reading and PE

What do you want to be when you grow up?

Something to do with Lego or Minecraft. Like maybe design Lego Minecraft sets.

Favorite thing about Minecraft

You can do whatever you want and there is also a lot of challenge in it.

What do you like about living in CA?

It's nice and hot a lot of the time. It's got ok schools but I like London schools better.

Where do you want to live when you grow up?

Somewhere in America but I might move. But I'd like to visit Denmark and also Sweden again.

Eddy's Seventh

Eddy's seventh birthday was as awesome as this boy is.  He is an absolute delight to our family.  How can you not grin when you see that smile?  Edward John is as great a kid as they come.

For his birthday he requested a Lego head cake with surprises inside.  So many layers of cake and frosting (with colors, sprinkles, M&Ms, chocolate chips!) later, here was the result.  It was a truly massive cake.  I'll never make one that big again, it was just too much!  But for this seven year old--anything.

My sister Katy was visiting and she and Eliza ran out to get decorations.  We spent the morning getting things festive so when Eddy walked in the door after school he could be happily surprised.

Another sister, Camilla, came up for the afternoon.  Collin came home early from work so he could come play as well.  We went to the park and tried out wiffle ball.  We had fun, but I'm not sure it was his dream activity.  Oh well.

He was completely spoiled with Lego from aunts and grandma.  It was probably the most exciting thing that has ever happened to him.

At the very least I ask for one session a year for some nice portraits of each individual child.  We popped over to Quarry Lakes in the few minutes before the sun set.  Such pretty light and such a funny boy.  I love every inch of his seven year old self.

The look I get when I try one more picture after he's way past done.  I got the message.

Eddy is Six!

My Eddy is spilling over into two hands to show his age.  I love this kid so much it hurts in that good way.  He is always so delighted to see me I can't help but beam back at him.  I love the way he nuzzles his head into me like a cat.  He has no trouble asking for things (sometimes to my embarrassment when it isn't precisely polite) and people just like him and shower him with stuff back.  His grin is infectious.  Both the fake and the real smiles make me smile.  He is a giggly boy over anything potty humor or silly.  He is confident in our love for him and his place in our family.
